The country hosting COP29 has been ruled with an iron fist by the Aliyev family for decades. Yet European governments, e.g. Italy, in the name of fossil fuels are turning a blind eye to the constant violations of the rights of Azerbaijani opponents, be they politicians, journalists or even artists.
